Team work – makes the dream work
So, to continue on my theme of team work, it has been brilliant this week for us at Dean Street to join up with different parts of the New Bridge Multi Academy Trust.
Corey and Jason have been working with Mr Wood and the employability team, including the job coach Mr Morrison, gaining experience in the Atruim café. The café is based in the First Choice Homes building in Oldham and caters for their employees. It’s amazing to see both Spring Brook pupils and New Bridge pupils working together and gaining valuable experience in the front of house and behind the scenes in the café. Big thanks to all the staff who support and engage this – as well as Corey and Jason who gained employee of the week in their first week!
We also called on another part of the New Bridge Group this week. Mr Greenway who organises the Oldham branch of Andy’s Man Club came down to speak to our young people about how important it is to talk. Andy’s Man Club does an amazing job as it raises the awareness of mental health issues and gives reassurance and support to young men whenever they need it. Thanks to Mr Greenway for travelling down to Dean Street and spending some quality time with our young people.
And finally, this week Mr Molloy met Activ8. As our Key Stage 4 pupils got ready for their Duke of Edinburgh’s, I asked Mr Molloy to step in and do a session with the boys. It was great to see the skills demonstrated and the boys working together supported by Mr Holban and I think it’s fair to say that Mr Molloy was suitably impressed..
Well, that’s me for this week. This Sunday is Mother’s Day (hint hint hint to the Tootill girls!) and I hope that, wherever you are and whoever you are with, this day is special.
