What a busy week we have had here at the academy! On Monday we saw some of our students off to Alton Towers for the day..

..and some students to Challenge 4 Change in Trafford Park for a teambuilding day with a difference – click here to find out all about it!

Whilst they were all away having fun, we welcomed our new cohort of Year 6 pupils. Let’s see what they got up to..

On Monday, the pupils from the lower school along with Jacob from Medlock Valley attended our transition day. The boys all got on well together and worked safely in the food technology room, producing a plate of cakes each to take home..

The group shared the washing up while the cakes baked in the oven..

..before they enjoyed looking around the building and finding out where they will spend their breaks and dinners, as well as looking at all the classrooms and work areas. Once cooled, the boys put buttercream on the top before decorating them with sweets..

After they’d finished, they all tucked into eating one before wrapping the others to take home..

Well done boys, thank you for a lovely morning. I am really looking forward to working with some of you in September.

I think it is safe to say the boys had lots of fun and are looking forward to starting here in September. Over to the Nurture Group..

On Monday the group went on the school trips, with most of the group going to Alton Towers and Leo attending the Challenge 4 Change trip. They all had a great time and couldn’t stop talking about it on Tuesday. In their English lesson the boys wrote a newspaper article about one of the rides. Harvey wrote about Miss Brown on the ride ‘Rita’, drawing a picture which had a striking resemblance to the photograph..

In Maths the boys have been drawing pie charts, measuring the angles acutely.

On Wednesday we had a competition throughout school to design an England flag. The boys worked well as a group, each picking a corner to trace and paint a lion. Well done boys, you took time and didn’t rush..

Harvey then wrote the slogan ‘It’s coming home’ in the last corner..

In food technology the boys had a choice of what they wanted to make, with all of them picking burgers again. Of course, they really enjoyed eating them..

This week we have packed lots of activities in. Miss Brown planned a wonderful week of fun. The students have continued to stay on timetable but have enjoyed activities like the Spring Brook Bake Off..

The students also made England flags in a competition..

What a week! Enjoy the weekend and stay safe!
