As you know, our determined Silver DofE group set off for their qualifying expedition on Monday morning. Mr Hopkins is delighted to bring us a report on their third and final day..
And finished! The first ever Spring Brook Silver group have survived their expedition – well done everyone!!!
For our last day we woke to the sound of rainfall (again) but fortunately it didn’t last long and by the time the boys had cooked breakfast it had stopped and actually the day would be lovely and sunny for our final trek – phew!
We left the lovely Boarfold scout campsite with aching feet at 10am but soon got into our stride and climbed up the very steep path to walk along Coombs Edge which afforded us the most beautiful views across 6 counties – I would say it was definitely worth it but maybe the boys’ feet wouldn’t!
After Coombs Edge it was a walk downhill into Charlesworth to a waiting minibus and home. I have to say well done to everyone who stayed in such positive spirits throughout some challenging moments. It has been a pleasure watching our pupils grow so much over the 2 years that we have been running D of E at Spring Brook. The resilience, respect and confidence of our pupils has risen greatly since we began. Gold anyone?
