Well this is it, the day we have all been dreading, our last day together as our Spring Brook Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 family…
We have been through so many happy, difficult, sad, challenging and rewarding times. Today we part. I’m fighting the tears back just writing this.
The staff team here who I talk fondly about as my Spring Brook family really are just that. I don’t do endings well at all; neither did our Year 9s yesterday or their teaching team. It is a tough time saying goodbye but when I look back over the years and see the progress made, it truly is astounding. We have:
- improved outcomes for all young people
- re-designed our curriculum offer
- created pupil portfolios linked to outcomes in our pupils’ EHC Plans
- trained and developed our wonderful and resilient staff teams
- welcomed more pupils than ever before into our Spring Brook family
- worked closely with our partners from the police, Healthy Young Minds, Oasis, Positive Steps
- ensured more accreditation for our young people in all key stages.
The list goes on and on.
Can I thank all of our parents and carers for your continued support over this academic year? Your support and open conversations really have meant lots to me and Mr Southerington. As we continue to move the school forward in September there will be a few more changes.
Building work is going on over the summer which will make major improvements to our school. I have been lucky enough to re-design parts of the building with architects from Cowan’s to improve discrete parts of the building.
As we welcome also some new students into our Spring Brook family in Years 7, 8 and 9, we will also welcome some new staff in September.
I have just received a beautiful message from a parent which has made my year:
“Thank you. I hope you all have a lovely summer and thank you to you for all for everything you have done for him over the past three years. I never thought he’d get through the first year never mind where he is now. Springbrook made my working life possible and also helped him become more confident in himself. Myself and his dad are confident that Springboard will be just as good for him. Could you please pass on a massive thank you to his Teaching team and the pastoral manager for understanding him and working with him when he became challenging. It’s very comforting as a parent to know your child is supported. Thank you again. We hope you all have a well deserved summer.”
I will leave you with some photos from the academic year 2018-2019..
Have a wonderful and safe summer holiday.
