Our Bronze DofE group didn’t exactly have a relaxing run up to the end of term – they had their qualifying expedition to complete first! Mr Molloy has all the details..
On Thursday 11th July, Spring Brook Upper set off for their long awaited Bronze expedition after putting in a lot of practice to develop their fitness levels and ability to survive out of a rucksack..
Earlier last month they covered the Monsal Trail in preparation for the main event which was a long walk covering the length of the River Dove in the Peak District. Being a small group with lots of practice covering low land walks, they rose to the challenge and covered the first day’s stretch in just under 6 hours..

Work then continued creating a comfortable camp for the night in readiness for day two’s adventure.
The group made light work of erecting the tents and camp and it was a good job, as through the night the British weather paid the Spring Brook Upper students a visit and turned the campsite into a paddling pool.
But the guys showed their resilience, got up, dried themselves off and carried on to day two, finishing the expedition a little soggy but in great spirits for what they have achieved and the experience they can call on.

Well done everyone!
