Children In Need 2021
Fun Friday here at spring Brook Upper.
This is what we do best.
In the spirit of Spring Brook Upper we have made, sold and eaten lots of cakes. We’ve played dodge ball and darts. There has been lots of fun and laughter in this building today and it has really made me smile. Thank you to all families who have supported our charitable event. The generosity of our very own children in need has been amazing.
The staff and students have all come together to be as creative as they could be, in order to have fun and raise money.
Brilliant effort by our Spring Brook Family.
Earlier this week we celebrated our learning with the executive team and some of our school governors. We showcased the wonderful work that Miss Crossley and her class have been doing with their reading and talk for writing. You can see Franklin reading his story here:

I just love Franklin’s story. It shows how much of a focus reading is here at Spring Brook Upper. Well done to Miss Crossley also for presenting her work on reading in the invitational meeting.
Other classes are also enjoying reading in their book studies. Mr Stewart’s class are reading one of my all time favourites. ‘Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time’ by Mark Haddon.
They are also arranging to go and see the play early next year. Mr Stewart has told me how much his class are engrossed in their reading.
I am currently reading a book called ‘Closing the Reading Gap’ by Alex Quigley.
Mr Mullins has been working really hard in school making sure that reading is central to all of our learning. We are hoping to develop a new school library in the near future and would welcome any kind donations of new books.
As we end our week of learning here at the academy I would like to thank all of the teaching staff who enable these wow moments of learning.
It was lovely for me to receive an email this week from a former student who is now at the Spring Board Project.
His kind words really made me think about his journey and why we do the jobs that we do.
“We are the difference that makes the difference.”
With that pause for thought…..enjoy all of the pleasant surprises that might come your way this weekend.
