Welcome Back
Breakfast club, Blackstone Edge, Bolton Abbey and Snow!
Welcome back to a new term at Spring Brook Academy. We have welcomed new students into our Spring Brook Family. This week has gone very quickly. Mr Hopkins has been as busy as ever exploring and making adventures at Blackstone Edge and Bolton Abbey during our outdoor education and John Muir time.
On Thursday, Mr Stewart’s and Mr Coldwell’s classes tried (and failed) to dodge the snow storm and headed out to Bolton Abbey near Skipton. We tried the 60 stepping stones across the river, found the tree covered with thousands of coins (and added a couple of our own), crossed the ford, had hot chocolate (to warm up in the snow), and explored the ruins of Bolton Priory which was built 900 years ago!
We also decided to go into Bolton Priory church as some of the pupils in our group said that they had never been inside a church before. This was a great experience for them and prompted lots of questions about faith, religion and the building itself and they showed great respect whilst inside.

Two great days out so well done to all of the classes for representing Spring Brook so brilliantly!”
Wow! I love the photos of Alyssa and Ellie at the top of Blackstone Edge and the photo of Paddy, Dawud and Kyren at Bolton Abbey.
In Miss Crossley’s class they have been working on independence skills and enjoying breakfast club. I’m pleased to see their learning in maths on multiplication and division. Miss Crossley also celebrated her birthday, Happy Birthday to you Miss Crossley!
“This week SBU1 have enjoyed breakfast club each morning, working towards developing independence and life skills. All this brain food has helped when it comes to our academic learning too – SBU1 have started working on their new Maths topic; Multiplication and Division, by sharing objects (or students) into equal groups (or hula hoops!) This term SBU1 are looking forward to adding some leaves to our ‘Poetree’ by studying a variety of different poems in English.”

Also, next week a number of the students are due to start the AQA qualification in MMA training. They are very excited about this and hopefully next week we will have lots of good photos to share.”
“We have had a great first week back in SBU 3. In Maths, we have been continuing with our Multiplication and Division topic, with Freddy remaining as our times table bingo champion! Can anyone else take the crown next week?
We have also cooked up a storm in Food Technology (aside from sabotaging Miss Batchelor with spicy chicken!) and had a great trip to the park. Looking forward to another great term!”
What a great start to 2022. We have two important visitors in school next week. Look at our facebook page for more news from our visitors in school.
A short week, enjoy the cold weather and stay safe!
