Mr Hopkins – Out and About
More orienteering this week in PE. As our pupils get more confident in map reading, the locations change and courses get harder and longer! Our year 7’s and 8’s are doing incredibly well at finding the control points and Mr Mullins’ class of year 9’s all completed their courses independently without getting lost once! Well done everyone for your efforts this week!
Out on John Muir this week Miss Power’s class visited Pule Hill to complete 6 challenges set by me! Each challenge tested their fears, teamwork and independence and included scrambling, small spaces and a gully run! I’m pleased to say that everyone completed at least 5 of the 6 challenges and well done to Conor and Alyssa for completing all 6!
Mr Stewart’s class explored the estate at Rivington Pike this week. Here they learned about Pigeon tower, Rivington Pike itself, Edith Rigby the suffragette and Liverpool castle. Aside from the history and geography elements we also found some horses and Zoe encouraged Tyron to stroke one for the first time ever. It took a while as he was quite scared at first but he finally managed to in the end! The class loved the castle ruins and it took some time to leave as they couldn’t stop exploring! This all took its toll though as the warm sun in the van on the way back claimed all of the students, taking them to the land of nod!
