It has been great to be back in school for the last two weeks and to see old faces another year older, new faces we haven’t seen before and also be astonished at how everyone has grown so much in just 6 weeks!

Even more exciting has been speaking to our year 9’s about their future and what interests they have for potential working life and turning this information into our new Vocational Curriculum.

Each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon all of our year 9’s are able to pick activities that they are interested in and want to learn more about.

These activities will change each half term to allow opportunities to develop further and explore different working pathways.

Our vocational curriculum is built around:

Building skills

Gaining qualifications

Experiencing work

For this current half term our pupils have had the option of 12 different activities all linked to future pathways in the workplace. They have been learning about bicycle mechanics, catering, sports coaching, sports analysis, sports fitness, mountain bike leading, photography and we have also seen the beginnings of a school newspaper come to life!

Our first week has seen some excellent engagement and I’m so excited at the prospect of seeing our pupils progressing and experiencing the workplace as the half term goes on.

It’s also fantastic to see our staff team providing amazing opportunities for our pupils and offering such specific skills for this curriculum to be put in place.
