SBU 4 Spooktacular!
SBU4 have had a spook-tacular week exploring the traditions associated with both Halloween and Bonfire Night.
To celebrate Halloween, the class bought and carved their own pumpkins, competed in a Mummy-thon Competition and went trick-or-treating around the school building.
Towards the end of the week we turned our attention to Bonfire Night and went to Rochdale Fire Museum for a first-hand account of how to stay safe at this time of year.
Our guide, Bob (an ex firefighter), directed us around the museum and discussed the history of the Greater Manchester Fire Service.
All pupils were engaged and asked thoughtful questions to gain insight into the role of the Fire Service today.
Pupils discussed firework/ bonfire safety, how to call for help in an emergency and the role of a firefighter (which wouldn’t have been complete without trying on the uniform, having a go of the hose, sitting in the fire engine and sliding down the station pole!).
Bob’s praise for our pupils was lovely to hear, as was our pupil’s praise for Bob!
Have a lovely weekend and stay safe!
