The last 2 weeks… (16.6.23)
These last 2 weeks have absolutely flown by with lots going on at SBU. Aside from the standard learning and amazing academic work…
…here are some highlights:
Our year 9’s continued their bushcraft learning skills teaming up this week to build and light their fires (without any matches or lighters) and get them hot enough to cook bacon sandwiches on them!! I have to say that our pupils have been amazing with these activities – respectful, safe and showing each other how to do certain things. Even Mr Roscoe was trusted with a bushcraft knife this week!
On Thursday this week we had a phone call from a parent (thank you so much!) saying that there were free donuts available from the Co-Op in Spinningfields! We quickly dispatched some pupils and staff and had a wonderful afternoon treat for all the hard work during the day. Thank you again to the Co-Op!!

On Wednesday this week for the John Muir Award, 2 classes joined together to explore a disused quarry near Bakewell. In it were many trails and some small lakes where inevitably a water fight and a paddle was had. Well done to all our pupils who showed great risk assessing, enquiry about the location and shared some lovely social interaction with each other.

Well done to everyone this week.
