Session #4 for Miss Crossley’s Class
On Monday, Miss Crossley’s class went out to work with the Longdendale rangers for the final time this year.
In the pouring rain we were tasked with clearing a (very) overgrown path that connects a footpath to the Longdendale trail which is a very popular walking, cycling and horse riding route along the disused Manchester to Sheffield railway.

As you can see in the pictures, it was like a jungle but with each plant and tree we cut back, a glimpse of a surprise awaited as we unveiled a gate and a tunnel for the footpath to connect to the trail!!

Our class were amazing and worked incredibly hard to clear this route and should feel very proud of themselves that they have cleared a way to access the trail for the general public.

A big thanks to Neil who has been the ranger directing us over the past month or so, his expertise and patience is superb and he has helped all of our pupils to understand what volunteering and working in the outdoors is like and how it benefits both the environment and the health and wellbeing of the people who use the area for leisure.
Well done, everyone!
