This week saw Spring Brook Upper send their 2nd group of explorers off on an expedition over the top of Kinder Scout.

Day 1

On Thursday we set off from the site of the old ‘Snake Inn’ on Snake Pass and headed straight up (for what seemed like forever) to the Seal stones on the top of Kinder Scout.

From here we walked all of the way across the Kinder skyline exploring lots of incredible rock formations and even riding a giant Turtle!

We then reached the corner of the Kinder plateaux and walked down on the Pennine Way before diverting off towards Cown Edge via an old plane wreck on the hills.
Finally we came to our camp site destination where Harley quickly got a fire going – which lasted until the next morning! – and Conor started making a beautiful chicken curry for us all.

The naan breads were lovely toasted on the fire!

We then had some toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate while we waited for the sun to go down for the now legendary game of manhunt in the dark forest!

Day 2

On Friday morning we rose at 7.45am and Harley immediately got the fire going again!

We had some coffee and packed up before the rain then got down to the important business of bacon and sausage sandwiches!!
After cleaning up we walked off site to go for a dip in the river and then onwards to our pick up point in the Etherow valley.
A fantastic expedition and an amazing experience for us all.
Well done everyone and a big thank you to Mr Roscoe for coming along for the trip.
