History

Our History curriculum is thematic and engaging, as we try and grab the attention of our learners through a variety of stimuli, including visits, reenactments and through the use of technology. The subject areas we cover and work through include Crime and Punishment (Roman crime and punishment; Anglo-Saxon and Viking crime and punishment; Medieval and Tudor crime and punishment; early Modern period crime and punishment); The USA (the discovery of America; exploring the States and the landscape; the Wild West history; tribes and tribulations; meeting the natives; the Western Frontier); Children in Victorian Britain (placing the Victorians on a timeline; the life of poor children in Victorian Britain; understanding the changes for poor children in the 19th century; comparison of modern and Victorian schooling; investigating how Victorian children spent their leisure time; daily life for Victorian children) however, we are always encouraged to follow the lead of our learners and often go where their interest takes us.
