“Science is about exploring, and the only way to uncover the secrets of the universe is to go and look.”
At Spring Brook Upper, our teaching of Science provides:
• A dynamic and engaging medium for pupils to gain knowledge
• An opportunity to develop independence and communication skills
This is achieved through:
• asking questions
• making observations
• performing simple tests
• using ideas to suggest answers
It is our aim across the Secondary phase to provide:
• enriched academic & learning for life experiences
• a creative way of teaching Science
• an inclusive, collaborative learning environment
Science Lessons at Spring Brook Upper
Science lessons at Spring Brook Upper are taught primarily through the use of enquiry skills.
We aim to develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena and the world around our pupils.
The curriculum is delivered through half termly topics, designed to allow pupils to gain knowledge in biology, physics and chemistry.
Through their planning, teachers provide pupils with opportunities to develop the skills associated with ‘doing science’ including:
• Critical thinking
• Decision making
